Travel Beautifully – Tips to keep skin glowing while on the go

Whether you’re planning a trip around the world or a weekend getaway, you’ll want your best skin to shine through in all of your amazing vacation photos. Follow these four easy tips for a clean complexion while traveling.

Tip #1: Stick to the basics

It’s easy to let the excitement of a new destination distract you from your normal skincare routine.  Your skin may be the last thing on your mind while vacationing.  If so, it can be the first thing you’ll think of when problems such as breakouts occur.  Skin looks its best when you stick with a basic maintenance routine: cleansing, toning and moisturizing.

Try these products for fuss free skincare:
Kaia Bamboo Cleansing Cloths (3 in 1 product-eye makeup remover, facial cleanser and toner) www.kaianaturals.com, Angel Face Botanicals Adzuki and Green Tea Cleansing Grains, these grains travel well and offer light exfoliation. www.angelfacebotanicals.com

Tip #2: Protect with SPF

Many of us forget about the harmful effects of the sun while we are enjoying its glorious rays.  But, we certainly have to protect our skin if we do not want a lobster red complexion.  Be sure to use a UVA/UVB sunscreen of 15 or higher and protect your face, lips and body. Try using a facial moisturizer with SPF; you will avoid breakouts using a sunscreen specifically made for your face.

Most sunscreens available today are made convenient and ready for travel.  Eco-Lips newest product, the Facestick with SPF 30, makes a great travel accessory. It protects your lips, nose and face from the sun.  The Facestick also heals dry skin and is made with 82% certified organic ingredients.  www.ecolips.com

Tip #3: Hydrate

New climates, airplane travel and air conditioning can leave skin feeling dry or irritated.  Exposing your skin to these new variables may leave it craving extra hydration.  Refresh and hydrate with facial sprays for beautifully, behaved skin.

Make your own lavender facial spray with these simple steps:  Purchase a small travel size spray bottle (airplane travel requires that liquids are 3 ounces or less).  Fill the bottle with distilled water. Then add about 10-15 drops of pure, lavender essential oil and an emulsifier. Try www.aromaland.com for essential oils and emulsifier or find lavender essential oil at your local health food store. If you do not use all of the spray while traveling, it will keep for a month or two without a preservative.  It’s best to discard the spray after this time and use only freshly made products if you do create them yourself.

Tip # 4: Sleep Serenity

Sleep is the one thing that many of us try to catch up on while we vacation.  However, it can be difficult to get some needed rest away from home.  Aromatherapy can help ease you to sleep.  Essential oils such as lavender and sandalwood set the mood for a serene sleep environment.

If you’ve created the lavender facial spray described above, you can spray it on your pillow and sheets before sleep.  The calming aroma of the lavender will relax and prepare you for a good night’s sleep.  Or you can try Earth Solutions Stress Less Travel Kit, filled with a relaxing boudoir spritzer, scent inhaler and bath salts. www.earthsolutions.com

Eye masks also aid in achieving sleep bliss, especially if the room you are staying in is not as dark as you wish.  Try a silk eye mask filled with relaxing herbs.

Enjoy your journey wherever you may travel and remember to follow these tips to avoid complexion complications.
