Easy, Wholesome Oatmeal

076_OatmealQuickTip_LGThanks to Chef Keith Snow of Harvest Eating for this naturally sweet recipe!

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1/4 cup dried cherries
  • 2 Tbsp. heavy cream

1. Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add a pinch of salt and the cherries.

2. Sprinkle in the oats and turn the heat down to low. Stir if you like creamy oats or don’t stir if you like more distinct grains.

3. Cook until most of the liquid is absorbed, about 6-7 minutes.

4. Drizzle cream on top, enjoy.

Chef’s Note: A hint of REAL maple syrup is a nice touch. A hint is less than a teaspoon.

I been wanting to get back to “stove-top” oatmeal for a while now. No time like the present. this recipe seems a lot quicker than I’m used to…Have I been cooking it wrong or is this using the 1 minute kind? Either way, I’m going to give it a try. I LOVE oatmeal!

    Thanks again!
