Homemade Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. corn syrup
  • 1/2 pint organic heavy cream


  1. In a stainless sauce pot over medium-high, add sugar, corn syrup and water. Bring to boil.
  2. Carefully watch until mixture starts to change color. Whisk often while cooking.
  3. When it becomes a dark mahogany color, add cream at once, whisk to combine then turn off heat.
  4. Cool liquid and store in the refrigerator.

    could you use agave nectar in place of the corn syrup?

  • never tried this caramel sauce but I am not a lover of butter so was glad to see this recipe
