Lean Mean Jamaican Style Vegetarian Patties

  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. Lightlife’s Gimme Lean Ground Beef
  • ¼ cup onion, finely diced
  • ¼ cup scallions, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed or smoothly smashed
  • 1 tsp. scotch bonnet pepper sauce (or any hot pepper sauce)
  • ½ tsp. dried thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp. ketchup
  • ¼ tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp. sea salt
  • ¼ cup Ian’s Original Panko Breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup water
  • 16-oz. refrigerated flaky dough sheets


  1. In 12-inch skillet, add oil, beef, onion, escallions, garlic, pepper sauce, thyme, ketchup, black pepper, and salt; mix well.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  3. Add bread crumbs and water. Stir. Cook 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  5. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  6. Unroll dough; cut into a total of 8 rectangles.
  7. Place 2 heaping tablespoons meat mixture on long half of each rectangle.
  8. Fold dough over filling. Use fork and crimp edges to seal. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
