Russian Tea Cakes

Prep Time: 8 hours

Cook Time: 18-20 minutes


  • 1 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cup sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts (or pecans)


  1. Mix together butter, sugar and vanilla until creamy.
  2. Add in flour and nuts.  Mix well and chill over night.
  3. Roll dough into 1″ balls and place on non-greased baking sheet. (Cookies do not spread so they can be placed close together.)
  4. Bake at 325 for 18-20 minutes until set, but not brown. While still warm, roll cookies into powdered sugar. Cool. Roll again.


Makes 24 Cookies
