Grilled Tuna Burgers

Recipe submitted by Jeanna H. of Pittsburgh, PA for the Mambolicious Recipe Contest 2009.


  • 2 6-oz. cans of tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1 small clove of garlic, minced
  • 1 stalk of celery, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 Tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup Ian’s Panko Breadcrumbs, original or whole wheat


  1. In a medium bowl, combine the tuna, onion, garlic, celery, and egg.
  2. Add soy sauce, lemon juice, ginger, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Slowly stir in the breadcrumbs. If necessary, add additional tablespoons of breadcrumbs until the mixture begins to stick together.
  4. Spray a grill pan or skillet with cooking spray over medium heat.
  5. Form the tuna mixture into thin patties, about palm-sized. Place directly into the grill pan. Cook the patties for 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from heat and serve. Enjoy!
