“Candied” Onions & Winter Squash



  • 1/2 winter squash, seeded and cut in 1 inch pieces
  • 1 – 2 onions, cut in thick, half-moon wedges
  • 1/2 tsp. Eden® Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Eden Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 – 2 tbsp. Eden Barley or Wheat Malt


  1. Preheat oven to 325° F.
  2. Arrange vegetables without overlapping in a shallow baking dish.
  3. Drizzle lightly with soy sauce and oil.
  4. Drizzle generously with barley or wheat malt.
  5. Cover and bake for 40 – 45 minutes, until veggies are just tender.
  6. Remove cover and allow vegetables to soften and candy, as the barley malt reduces. Serve hot.
